Behind The Grind: Black Cloud Music-Jynxx

9092951: You founded Black Cloud, can you give me a brief history on how the label got started from the ground floor to how it is now? What artist(s) did you start off with?
JYNXX: The label got started in early ’06. I met Yasin at the time when I was finishing my first project which was a compilation called "Beats and Life." I always wanted to drop my first project under a label so we decided to start our own and that was the first official project under "Black Cloud Music." I met Noa James in ’07 when I was performing as part of S.O.P (group). He was doing a hip hop venue called "Building Blocks" in downtown San Bernardino. I started engineering for him in ’08 at his studio in Highland. Around the same time he parted ways from Building Blocks and I decided to approach him to be part of the label. Noa James then introduced me to Curtiss King and Art Barz in Mid ’09. Around the same time I met Faimkills. Him and Noa known each other since high school. He then became part of BC in early 2010. Then came OSA in 2011, 5 member crew, all dope spitters. And that’s how it became what we are  now.

9092951: What does your daughter think of your music?
JYNXX: She likes the real catchy ones. She sings to “Sinbad” by Curtiss King. LOL. She still don't understand a lot of the lyrics. She’s just 5. But she do like watching me make beats and [she] knows why I do this music for.

9092951: What’s the most prominent memory you have from growing up in San Bernardino, CA?
JYNXX: Graffitti… definitely. Back in ’98-early 2000s there was a lot of real dope graffitti artists. That died down over the time though. But thats how I got my name and I still love the art.

9092951: What do you hope to accomplish before your time on earth expires? What mark do you want to leave?
JYNXX: I want to leave my family comfortable, not having to worry about money. I want the people to remember the music we put out. And [I] hope that we inspire independent artists to do what they want and not what major labels want. Also plan to do a lot of charity work and help our community.

9092951: What are your favorite lyrics from a fellow Black Cloud Music artist?

"See my O-line is the whole 9
It's Black Cloud you get no shine
It's our time"

Noa James
